It just happened that it was the girls who wanted to. Sara: I think it was a combination of doing the demo and saying yes to a lot of gigs. Julie: Thank you for wanting to do an interview with us! Here are a couple of non-Konvent, Copenhagen related questions for you, just out of my own curiosity. It was actually inspired by our other song Ropes pt. There are plenty of doom metal bands that still maintain an incredibly slow pace while bringing some interesting variation to the table that is more than just pure, unadulterated mayhem; see bands like Mizmor, Dark Matter, Inter Arma, or the new Garganjua record, just to name a few.

A few months after, we signed a worldwide booking and record deal with them. I only knew the stuff I was trying to do for the band. Hoping to get many more Origin girlies in the future! All: We want to play 70000Tons of Metal! Only a few weeks after the concert, they were looking for a new drummer and I became a part of the band. So, we were just starting out, kind of from scratch, but it was nice to be on the same level. I is about knowing someone who is going through a bad time and the powerlessness that comes with it.

Hopefully, Konvent can do the same, in their own unique, moving forward. We never imagined that it would blow up so fast and become such a big part of our lives. These artists mix different styles into their main doom ingredient to make it far spicier. . I just yearned for more expansion and depth in this already-dense music because, without those changes, this record can honestly be a stagnant chore to get through sometimes.

Of course, you get inspired by other bands that you like, but it was mostly the critics who would say we sound like this band and that band. Be on the lookout for a brand new studio album in 2019. Who are some of your influences? Copyright © 2020 Napalm Records, All rights reserved. Not just the old, hunchback penguin stereotype either, like young women choosing to be nuns. Both these venues are also good at booking great doom bands. The Danish collective, founded in 2015, stoically trudges through the blackest mires — following in the footsteps of Mythic, Paradise Lost, Skepticism and Winter, who all unleashed the bleakest horror on mankind in the early 90s.

We have very different influences when it comes music in this band, but the ones that we can agree on are: Candlemass, Mantar, Monolord, Alunah, Solbrud, Dirt Forge, and Black Breath. I recently had the opportunity to put a few questions to the band, who had some very interesting insight into the album, their history, equality and much more. I think a lot of our readers are curious about the metal scene in Copenhagen, as well as Denmark at large. What can you tell us about it? The Eye displays the finely walked balance of the creeping crawl of doom with hefty bass tones from Heidi Withington Brink acting as the perfect counter to the slick death metal-esque guitar grooves from Nørregaard. I froze my ass off in there, but experiences like that are always worth it! We discovered that in the demo phase, but we also really discovered that when we did the debut album, which was with another producer in another studio. For this is slow, punishing, and demolishing doom-death, first and foremost. Another thing that we especially like in the band is the Danish pastry called Snøfler. I think I bought this cool longsleeve drunk as hell at the Roskilde Festival when they did their split show with The Body. Sweaty, stained and torn, our shirts are chronicles of our lives, physical markers of a past time and place that we pridefully put on our bodies every day.

How good is the weed in Copenhagen? Looking back at that, it was so stupid to just call the demo Demo laughs , but what we felt at that time was that it was only a demo and we never felt that people from foreign countries would contact us and listen to it and ask us if we wanted to play and stuff like that. It happened to be that there was a guy from Napalm Records there the night we played who saw us and offered us a worldwide deal, and that also gave us a lot of attention. They have a clear pecking order: there are those shirts you wear only when all the best ones are in the laundry, there are the absolute favorites you wear once every couple of weeks, and there are all the shirts in between, each with their own clear rank. How did you end up getting it out there? Rikke: The title is also the title of our first single. We just want to go out and play as much as we can and explore new territories.
